The Salon

In 1954, Vidal Sassoon opened his first salon at 108 New Bond Street in London. With an open floor plan and modern furnishings, the first Sassoon Salon eliminated the elitism of hairdressing in form and function.

The looks that Sassoon, his collaborators and staff created not only challenged fashion but also confronted issues of class. The Five-Point cut, and the salon it was crafted in, appealed to East Enders and socialites alike.

"We got everybody to enjoy the good things," he said. "It was a great human moment."

Today, Sassoon Salons operate throughout Europe and North America. Style and low maintenance remain at the heart of their philosophy. Learn more about Sassoon Salons

Sassoon Academy

"If someone were to ask me, 'What's the number one thing, in essence, that you left behind?'" Vidal Sassoon said."It was the teaching of others, so that they could take my work and take it further."

Sassoon believed it his duty to teach the next generation of hairstylists. He opened the first Sassoon Academy in London.

Today, Sassoon Academy continues to teach cutting and color throughout Europe and North America. Learn more about Sassoon Academy
